The U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce that U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Sarah Troutman will visit Mauritius this week to advance U.S.-Mauritius commercial engagement and explore new opportunities to strengthen trade, investment, and business partnerships between the two countries.
Deputy Assistant Secretary Troutman will witness Mauritius signing the Artemis Accords, joining the United States and 69 other countries in an international framework for the peaceful and responsible cooperation in space. She will also attend the signing of an Acquisition Cross Servicing Agreement, which will enhance logistical cooperation on security, disaster management, and humanitarian relief between the United States and Mauritius.
Ms. Troutman will join President of Mauritius Dharam Gokhool to visit the site of the new U.S. Embassy in Bagatelle, where they will participate in the structural completion of the embassy’s public access facility. The new U.S. embassy represents a 100-year investment in Mauritius and reflects the enduring partnership between the two countries.
Discussions during her visit will also focus on preparations for the U.S.-Africa Business Summit, which Mauritius will host from December 6 to 9, 2026. The summit will bring together senior government officials, business leaders, and investors from across the United States and Africa to strengthen trade and investment relationships, foster business partnerships, and promote economic growth.
